The Gillespie Center Men’s Shed meets every Thursday at 10:00 am at The Gillespie Center in Mound. The Shed began several years ago in Australia, as a means of bringing together men who, because of age or other factors were looking for companionship and meaningful relationships.

Men’s Shed groups gather to provide a safe, friendly and healthy environment where men are able to work on meaningful activities in the company of other men. Key objectives are to advance the wellbeing and health of members and encourage social inclusion by:

• Sharing skills and abilities
• Engaging in projects that benefit the community
• Planning meaningful activities
• Contributing to the community

Members participate in a wide variety of activities selected by the group. Past and current activities include local tours, listening to guest speakers, light community service projects, and sometimes “just hanging out together” swapping tall tales.

The Shed maintains a welcoming, open door policy. Members are expected to conduct themselves in a nondiscriminatory manner and observe and ensure safe activity practices.

Call Phil Johnson at 952-239-0965 to learn more about The Shed at Gillespie Center.
