Get out of the house and come spend time with the guys.
The Gillespie Center Men’s Shed is a group of men who meet every Thursday at 10:00 am at The Gillespie Center in Mound. They do a wide variety of activities that members themselves decide on. These include going on local tours, listening to guest speakers, light community service projects, along with plenty of “just hanging out together” to swap tall tales. Please join us!
More About Men’s Shed:
Men’s Sheds provide safe, social environments where men can connect, share skills, and work on projects, fostering a sense of community and well-being. These sheds are not just about woodworking; they can encompass a variety of activities and interests, offering a place for men to socialize, learn new skills, and contribute to their communities. Men’s Sheds are community-based, non-profit organizations that offer a welcoming space for men to gather and engage in activities they choose. Originating from the idea of a backyard shed where men would work on projects, they’ve evolved into diverse spaces with various focuses, from community projects to sharing stories and camaraderie. Key Aspects of Men’s Sheds include:
Social Connection: Sheds offer a vital space for men to connect with others, combatting social isolation and loneliness.
Skill Sharing: Members can share their skills and knowledge with others, learn new skills, and redevelop old ones.
Community Involvement: Sheds often undertake community projects, contributing to the well-being of their local area.
Mental and Physical Health: Sheds provide a positive environment that can improve men’s mental and physical health, offering a sense of purpose and belonging.
No Pressure: Members can participate at their own pace and choose activities that interest them, with no pressure to perform.
And remember, the coffee pot is always on!
