Summer is finally here! And what a wonderful summer it will be in our community! We have a lot planned at the Gillespie Center and we are hoping to see you!
We will have several interesting and free seminars coming up! We have a fascinating seminar on June 4th, “Brushstrokes & Bandits: Heists, Forgeries, and Scandals in the Art World”, presented by Revere Auctions. Trellis will be here on June 11th to tell us about their services. Trellis is a State of Minnesota agency who assist older adults to apply for key programs such as energy assistance, SNAP benefits, health insurance, prescription assistance, and more savings benefits. Make sure to attend the “Community in Action” presentation from the Orono PD on June 25th, where they will share what’s happening in our community and how to stay safe from frauds and scams. Doug Ohman, renowned author, historian, and photographer will return to the Gillespie Center on July 9th to present his bestselling book “Escape to the Lake, Minnesota Cabins”.
Be sure to catch us in Spirit of the Lakes Festival on July 19th. We will have a car in the parade, and we will host a Cornhole Tournament and Family Fun Day in our parking lot immediately following the parade. Join us for an afternoon of fun and entertainment! Lastly, a BIG thank you to those who completed our annual survey! We really appreciate the feedback as it helps us to ensure we are providing the programs and services that you want and need! A crucial piece of feedback is the “Net Promoter Score”. This score is a calculation of the response to “How likely are you to recommend the Gillespie Center to a Friend”. I am very pleased to report that this score is “86”, a 95% increase from last year, far surpassing our goal! This is an outstanding score as most companies strive to get a score of 70-80. That said, we can always do better. Please feel free to reach out to me or any Gillespie Center staff with feedback and suggestions.
